First import in five steps
- 1. Confirm access
The podcast downloader is available on Starter, Creator, Pro and Network, plus staff and administrators. Free Hobbyist accounts see the panel but cannot import.
- 2. Add your own API keys
Open AI & provider settings and paste a key for at least one directory. Keys are stored against your account only, and each one is verified with a live probe so you know immediately if it works.
- 3. Accept the legal notice
Read and accept the usage disclaimer once. You are responsible for only importing episodes you are licensed to rebroadcast — most shows require the publisher's permission.
- 4. Search and preview
Search by show, topic or feed URL. Results show the directory, publisher and episode length so you can check the show before importing anything.
- 5. Import to your Media Library
Import queues a download, normalizes loudness to -14 LUFS and files the episode in your Media Library, ready to add to a playlist, rotation or scheduled slot.
Supported directories & keys
- Podcast Index
- Free, open index. Sign up for an API key and secret at podcastindex.org.
- Listen Notes
- Free tier with generous search. Key from listennotes.com/api.
- gPodder.net
- Open community directory — no key needed for public search.
- Apple Podcasts
- Public search endpoint; no key required, great for verifying show metadata.
- Taddy
- GraphQL directory. Requires both your Taddy User ID and API key.
- AllFeeds.ai
- REST directory with a free API key from allfeeds.ai/api.
Add or update keys any time in provider settings.
Staying legal
- A podcast being publicly downloadable does not make it licensed for rebroadcast.
- Prefer shows with an explicit Creative Commons or public-domain licence, or written permission from the publisher.
- Keep the show title and publisher credit intact in your rotation metadata.
- Imports are logged per account so rights queries can be traced back to the original feed.
Troubleshooting
- “Provider key invalid”
- Re-paste the key without spaces. Taddy needs the User ID as well as the key; Podcast Index needs both key and secret.
- Import blocked with a cap message
- Imports are limited to 30 episodes per day per account, with rolling 24-hour burst protection. The counter resets automatically.
- Feed rejected as unsafe
- Feed and episode URLs are validated before download. Private, local or redirecting-to-internal addresses are refused by design.
- Episode imported but silent or truncated
- Some publishers serve tracking redirects that expire. Re-run the import, or download from the show's own site and upload it manually.
- Account temporarily suspended from importing
- Repeatedly hitting caps or safety blocks triggers a temporary suspension. Contact support and an administrator can restore access.
